Canadian Residents: TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR INSURANCE UNDER A MANULIFE POLICY
For insurance plans (except Visitors Plans) that include Emergency Medical Insurance, you must be a resident of Canada and covered under a government health insurance plan for the entire duration of the trip. If at time of claim, it is discovered that you no longer have coverage under a government health insurance plan, the maximum amount payable for all eligible expenses combined will be limited to $25,000. At the time of your application for coverage under an insurance plan, you must meet the eligible age requirement for that plan. Please refer to the "Schedule of Maximum Benefits by Plan"

On December 15, 2021, the Government of Canada issued a Global COVID-19 Travel Advisory to “Avoid Non-Essential Travel” outside Canada. This means that any Canadian resident who is planning to travel will need the Manulife COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Plan to be covered for COVID-19 related medical expenses and quarantine benefits.

For Medical Plans and Medical Benefits:
  • For the COVID-19 Pandemic Travel Insurance Plan, expenses related to COVID-19 will not be covered if the Government of Canada issues an "Avoid All Travel" Advisory, advising or recommending that Canadians not travel to a specific country, region or city on their date of departure.
  • For all other plans with emergency medical benefits, expenses related to COVID-19 will not be covered if the Government of Canada issues an "Avoid Non-Essential Travel" Advisory, advising or recommending that Canadians not travel to a specific country, region or city on their date of departure.
  • Current Travel Advisory status here.
